It's easy for those of us who were involved in planning Roane State's 2011 Ed Tech Academy to feel that the event was a rousing success -- strong attendance throughout the three days of workshops and presentations, phenomenal guest speakers, opportunities for conversation with colleagues about teaching and about enhancing courses with technology -- but now that the satisfaction survey results are in, it's apparent that our pride is justified.
Of those responding, 83.3% reported that they were very satisfied with the Academy, and the remaining 16.7% were somewhat satisfied. Almost everyone commented positively on Barry Dahl and Robbie Melton's presentations, and generally the only complaint was that attendees wished that they had been able to participate in all of the workshops rather than sometimes having to choose between two. Several attendees also suggested that in the future, more sessions be held which are Roane State specific, i.e., more training on D2L/Momentum features.
The EdTech Committee will definitely take all feedback into account as we prepare for next year's event, and we would love to have your suggestions whether a formal survey is open or not. Nichole White, Darren York, and I are always willing to hold small group or individual training sessions on D2L/Momentum, and we hope that faculty who have tried new technology or teaching strategies will be interested in sharing their expertise at workshops throughout the year. We don't have to wait for another Academy to roll around to keep the conversation and the enthusiasm going!
